Real-Time Insight

The Easiest to Use Database Monitoring Solution is Also the Most Intelligent

Smart Policy Language

An auditing solution must have the intelligence to filter through high volumes of data to identify only the most critical activity and provide immediate visibility into what is happening with that data —for data protection and compliance assurance. This clear picture of data activity allows you to quickly identify data risk, including potential non-compliance, and take action to mitigate it.

The key to intelligent filtering is a powerful policy language. Mantra’s policy language is both powerful and easy to use. Mantra policies can audit any database activity including logins, DML, DDL, DCL, stored procedure access events, triggers and much more. It can also audit file operations such as open, close, read, delete, and more. A single policy can be used to monitor database and file share activity.

The Mantra policy language is highly intuitive and can be used by business analysts as well as by security or database experts. Mantra comes with pre-configured compliance policy templates and a Policy Wizard that makes custom policy creation a snap.

Mantra policies can be configured as audit, alert of session termination policies. Audit policies cause any matching event to be logged into Mantra’s event database; this is critical when an audit trail is required for reporting or verification purposes. Alert Policies go one step further by generating an external notification, either via email, pager or a system log entry (SYSLOG), for events that match an Alert policy.

Behavioral Fingerprinting

Mantra’s Behavioral Fingerprinting® analytics provide real-time insight into user activity with critical data assets. By identifying when user behavior departs from normal patterns, Mantra enables you to detect malicious activity as it happens.

Behavioral Fingerprinting uses patent-pending algorithms to build a dynamic, constantly updating individual user profile for normal behavior. It then applies the profile against all user activity to identify suspicious or anomalous behavior. For example, if a user suddenly downloads a large amount of sensitive customer information, Mantra would compare that activity to the users profile to determine if this is an anomalous behavior for that person and then alert administrators. Since the user’s profile is dynamic, there are dramatically fewer false positives with this approach as compared to older, static baseline technologies. The algorithm does the work. All you need to do is create the policies, and creating them is easy.

Content Scanning Pinpoints Data of Interest

Mantra is the first solution with content scanning capabilities to help you quickly and easily find sensitive data at rest and in motion and locate databases on your network. Mantra allows you to discover, monitor and report on the activity of specific types of data, such as credit card numbers and Social Security numbers, in databases, file servers and mainframe environments. For example, if you want to find out what’s happening with Visa credit cards, simply pick the Visa credit card pattern from Mantra’s library of patterns, add it to a policy, and Mantra will start searching for any activity with Visa credit cards.

Content scanning is integrated with Netezza's patent-pending Behavioral Fingerprinting® technology to detect suspicious user behavior as it occurs. This real-time monitoring is critical for complying with regulations such as Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS), CA 1386/1950, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), HIPAA and others.
